My Greatest Inspiration: Tim Burton

So true.  Even when I don't mean to, he shows up in my work.  In college, my professors knew whatever I came up with would include stripes or pointy edges.  :)

Tim Burton has directed/produced/written some of the most incredible movies.  My favorites include Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, and Big Fish.  I really love the misunderstood characters that he creates.

I enjoy his movies, but I'm an even bigger fan of his personal artwork.  Currently, The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York City is exhibiting a retrospective of Tim Burton's career.  This retrospective includes everything:  puppets, short films, drawings, etc.  It looks amazing, especially the entrance to the exhibit.  If I don't get the chance to see the exhibit in New York City, I hope it travels.

Below are some of my old college pieces.

I actually made a giant cardboard chair like this that supported my weight.  It didn't survive the trip home.

And in case you forgot... Alice in Wonderland comes out this Friday!!!  Can't wait!
