Feature: Triple XXX

What exactly is Triple XXX (pronounced Triple X)?  Well, it's root beer made by the Galveston Brewing Company/Southern Beverage Company.  Two Triple XXX drive-ins still exist.  One is in Issaquah, Washington (with the traditional barrel on top of the building), and the other is in West Lafayette, Indiana near Purdue University.  I had the pleasure of visiting the one in Indiana.

You may have seen Triple XXX Family Restaurant on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives hosted by Guy Fieri or maybe you visited the drive-in as a kid.  Triple XXX Family Restaurant was Indiana's first drive-in restaurant.  It's been in operation since 1929 and is best known for its 100% sirloin burgers (or Chop Steaks, as they call them).

I don't eat meat or like root beer.  Haha.  So why did I want to visit the Triple XXX?  I love anything retro, and there's something really special about diners.  Plus, I was still able to find something to eat.  I had the breaded mushrooms and fries.  My mother had a grilled cheese and some Triple XXX root beer.  She loved it!  And yes, Triple XXX is officially vegetarian approved!  ;)

My visit to Triple XXX was amazing.  The food wasn't greasy; the staff was friendly; one customer raved about the restaurant and told me that he had been a customer since age 3; and Sister Golden Hair played overhead.
