Recycled Bottle Candy Jar

Have some empty beverage bottles lying around?  Try sprucing them up with some paint or decorative paper and use them as candy jars or a vase.

I asked my mom to save her Starbucks bottles for me to use as candy jars.  At first I thought about covering the caps with paper, then I decided on paint, because I wanted a very specific color.  For the caps, I added 4 coats of paint and let each coat dry for about 30 minutes.  To seal the paint, I used a spray enamel.

The tough part was pulling the sticker off.  I let the bottles soak in warm water, then peeled off the sticker.  Some residue was left behind, so I used some dish detergent and the rough side of a scrub sponge to remove it.

What projects have you done with recycled bottles?
