A Vinyl Story

From my mom's music (Carole King, The Doors, The Carpenters, Jackson 5, etc.) to my storybook 45s (Strawberry Shortcake), I was raised on vinyl.  I still have them all with the exception of my brother's MIA Dukes of Hazzard 45.

When I started to get an allowance, I purchased a 45 each week from the only store in town that sold them.  My first one?  Neil Sedaka's Calendar Girl.  Why?  September (my birth month) is the girl's Sweet 16.  My second one?  Soundgarden's Black Hole Sun.  Those purchases pretty much explain my entire music library:  oldies and 90s alternative.  I continued this tradition with my first "real" job until the store closed.

Luckily for me, other people think records are cool again.  More and more bands are releasing albums on vinyl with a bonus digital download.  I didn't think it could get any better than that... until some of those records came in colored vinyl.

And yes, I am a firm believer that music sounds better on vinyl.

P.S.  You can see more of my collection on Instagram.
